Hi all, I am new to the group. I am posting from Montreal, Canada.
Let me tell you that this is a great forum, the posts are very interesting and the people who post are really serious. I wish good luck for every one.
I have myopia -3.5 left, -3.75 right with a 0.5 or 0.75 of astigmatism for both eyes. I have been wearing glasses since I was 15. I am 32.
Reducing my myopia is a kind of obsession for me. Three years ago I started a program of Ortho-k here in Montreal. I spent more than 3000 dollars to buy 10 sets of contact lenses; dozens of visits to my optometrist and other eye specialists to finally realize that the results were non permanent. Furthermore, the contact of the lenses with eyes could leave permanent scratches on the cornea surface. We can see them with a microscope. They don’t hurt but they are there.
So needless to say that patients who are considering the O-k as an option to permanent recovery should think twice before they engage themselves in the process.
Meanwhile, I got in touch with a NVI teacher here in Montreal Mr. Guy Duchemin he’s an optometrist, he also wrote a book in this field: ‘’Vaincre la myopie’’ translated to English would be ‘’Overcome myopia’’. He taught me some principles and helped me improving convergence when following a near target and that, by practicing simple exercises. Also I bought 5 books in this field:
1- ‘’Mieux voir ou enfin vivre sans lunettes’’: See better or finally live without glasses. Dr. Christian Schaller.
2- ‘’La santé de vos yeux’’: Health of your eyes. A. and J. Passebecq.
3- ‘’Voir de mieux en mieux’’: See better an better. Sir Martin Brofman.
4- ‘’Voir sans lunettes’’: See without glasses. Dr. Robert.M Kaplan.
5- Relearning to see: T.Q.
Furthermore, I got in touch 20 months ago with another CODV teacher here in Montreal too, her name is Margaret Ronis she is an optometrist as well. She gave me a reduced prescription allowing me to have a visual acuity of 6/9 for both eyes, and she gave me 4 exercises to do:
1- Deep breathing: 3 breaths or more every hour.
2- Palming: 10 minutes, 2 times a day.
3- 4 corner rotations: 5 times each direction.
4- Walks outdoor half an hour a day
- Look straight, use peripheral vision
- Look all around.
I’ve noticed that the palming exercise was good and potentially helpful. To be honest, I have to say that I was not practicing my exercises regularly and that I was tired after a short period of practice.
3 or 4 months ago I realized that do I need a new way to achieve some improvement.
A program, preferably with a device or software, which could engage me in a regular and a solid substantial process.
I started looking for something on internet and I found couple of gadgets and programs: I am talking, of course, about the SCM, Paul’s Pathway, Jacob Liberman’s program etc.
Two or three programs have kept my interest because they offer a device that one could use to exercise his eyes:
1- Jacob Liberman’s program and the device that comes with the kit. I didn’t find a lot of comments about this device on this forum.
2- SCM seems to be a program that misses a software or another device that I could use in a regular basis to do visual exercises. There are some comments about this kit.
3- An eye trainer produced by English and Chinese specialists. I found the devices they offer on a website: www.opal-london.com (this address has been changed and I don’t know the new one). I think that their products seem to be interesting. There are no comments about this program on this site.
I would like to know if there is anyone in this list who improved his eyesight by any of these methods mentioned above. Or if anyone does know the internet address of a forum like this one, where we discuss and share experiences of using one of these devices
Thank in advance.
