My husband suffers from grand mal seizures from an accident 5 years ago. He is 35 years old and they say there is no permanant brain injury - nothing shows up on a MRI or CT. He is taking tegretol 800 mg a day which has increased over the years. He usually goes a few months without having a seizure but recently has gotten worse and has had one everyday for the past few days. His neurologist just wants to increase the dosage of his meds. Everytime we increase the side effects increase We are going to find a new neurologist but in the meantime I have been doing so research on my own and want to find alternative ways to fight this disease. The problem is I have read so much I don't know where to begin. I am keeping a journal everyday of everything that is going on even when he is seizure free so maybe I can see somewhat of a pattern as to when the seizures are happeing. I thought maybe I would start with a diet change but have heard about a couple choices. Has anybody had any luck with any of these or any suggestions as to reading material or where to start. Thank you This is sure a tough disease to cope with - especially when you have a stubborn husband who thinks he can still do everything he used to do and is invinsible. THANKS
