Anyone else here using music to get them through any rough spots? I've found it to be of great help to uplift my moods when I am feeling down.
Two of my favorite songs that have lyrics appropriate for adrenal fatigue are Coldplay's fix you and R.E.M.'s everybody hurts. Any other suggestions?

I know the REM song, but will have to look up the Coldplay one...
When I am feeling really stressed and/or ill I like to turn on my TV surround sound to the slow music station (soundscapes or audiovisions). That is very relaxing, like when you're at a massage parlor. But recently, I was going through my CD's with my teen-age step-daughter to look for things she might like on her Ipod, and it felt so good listening to them! I hadn't done that in a long time and forgot how important music can be. I could probably think of a zillion songs that inspire me, but I'll just mention a couple here. (I have eclectic taste, too. I generally like music that is well-written and poetic, whatever genre.)
Some examples:
I like Seal because he is a philosopher and his music is interesting and moody. His whole white album is great, but this is probably my favorite song on it.(It's more about living than dying!)

I got a folk-type CD by chance one day when I heard it playing in the background of the bookstore. The singer is Dar Williams. (I put links to lyrics or this message would be way too long.)I find her songs to be very uplifting.

Another of my favorites is 10,000 Maniacs. "Our Time in Eden" and "Love Among the Ruins."
Basically, I'm sure any music we can relate to is good for us as long as it doesn't indulge depressive thinking. I think it's great that you are using music as therapy. Music really has a way to get a message past our brains and down to our hearts!

That's funny about using using your T.V. imaging and surround sound, because at my worst of panic attacks the only thing that calmed me down was watching nature programs!
I agree about Seal, I have his album and you just reminded me to listen to it once again. I find that just lying down in bed and putting head phones on can transport me out of my body to another time and space.

I'll check out your favs, too. I love "My Immortal" and "You're Beautiful", but they make me sad because I empathize all the hurt. The girl in Evanescence has an awsome voice. I have that Alanis CD and agree that is a good "freeing" song. I'm not sure which Depeche Mode song that is. I'll have to check it out. The others I don't know at all. You know what else puts me in a good mood? Hootie and the Blowfish "I Only Wanna Be with You" (I liked to dance to it holding my son when he was little) and I have a couple of Cranberries CDs that are very good. The one with Animal Instinct is very upbeat and fun. Even her angry songs have a "positive" attitude! Of the 10,000 maniacs, I think my all time favorite song is "These are Days." It talks about spiritual enlightenment and pure joy. Later, Karyn...

"Sweet Mistakes", by Ellis Paul. I first heard this song as part of the soundtrack for the movie "Shallow Hal", and tracked it down. BTW that was a very strong positive-messaged movie, and I do recommend it if you like relevant non-BS humanistic comedy-dramas with happy endings. The soundtrack is also loaded with uniquely good music with a message. Tony Robbins was in this movie :), it was a kick to see him in it.

This is a reply to # 556,248What a coincidence! I was going to say, if this thread went on to movies, how much I liked Shallow Hal. At first I thought it would be a B rated just-for-fun comedy, but it really does have a great message about seeing "inner beauty." (I always get choked up when Hal sees the little girl, Cadence, at the hospital after his "spell" has been broken.)I have the DVD and will have to look for that song you mentioned. I always noticed the Cake song "Comfort Eagle"...By the way, Cake is great if you like really original, funky-alternative music.
