This is all fascinating...
After college I (straight female) worked in television for about 7 years ...a male dominated field.
I have met shy ones, players, pigs, and princes...whatever.
They vary so much from each other but what I have learned in all of these relationships is that you have to allow him to be himself. When he can be himself without being put down or lectured, or rejected, he feels safe with you.
When he feels safe, you get so much more out of him.
This includes quite a bit of farting...but I digress.
When I say, "get more", I don't mean in a manipulative way. You wanna turn a man off? Manipulate him.
The guys I worked with would hardly talk to me when I first started, and not because I was some weird bull-dike, puffing up about "being equal" in a field that is run by men. They were so afraid of saying the wrong things and getting sued for sexual harrasment. As soon as they realized that I wasn't going to judge them or try to "put them in their places", they completely relaxed.
You could call how they behaved with me "sexual harassment", but I thought it was hilarious. They love talking freely about sex and asking tons of questions and making sex jokes (lots of gas, too). They think about sex a lot! I notice, the men that are held back by women and all are their "rules" tend to be uptight and puffed up.
And don't misunderstand me...I know there are some bullies out there that will use sex as power over women, but I think in general, men are wonderful.
You can learn so much from men. In my experience...they will give and give and give. And they have so much heart.
Sounds like common sense?
But I have watched women put energy into the games and insults and pouting and drama! And you know what really makes me want to put a fork in my eye?!
When women always "read something" negative into what a man says! Blech!
Please, ladies, don't respond to me in malice. I am not bashing all women.
It's just -men learn how to behave around us based on what they are given to work with.
I have found that men are easy to understand and what's great is...if you can't figure something out about him (or men in general)...just ask him. He will gladly tell you.
I am no male expert but the men I have known have been gems.
Any men who would like to expound further on this, I would love to hear it.
And if I am way off...I'd like to hear that as well.
