From my understanding, Dr. Mendelsohn suggests in his book that the number of exposures to radiation that a woman experiences throughout her life increases her chances of having a Downs Syndrome child or one with another "abnormality." I have read his book, but the table of contents and index does not lead me directly to this information in his book, so I found something about it on the web site listed. The exposures occur over a lifetime and I guess can affect the woman's eggs/chromosomes/DNA, etc.
It is just an interesting suggestion. I do not know anything else about it.
I have just accepted a position working with the developmentally delayed population and am due to start October 16th. This is one of my favorite populations. I believe that these children are a blessing from God, whether or not we ever figure out what causes the condition.
