Hello,
I didn't post the thread that you responded to. I just came to this forum for the first time today and am reading the threads.
As for your question if Jesus said that. According to the bible, yes he did.
Now, it seems that you are questioning how it could be known that he did in fact say that since it wasn't written down for nearly 100 years after the fact.
About this, I understand the skeptism that this late documentation could create. Yet, do consider a couple things, please. In historical times education was done predominately by oral repetition/memorization.
If this seems to be a stretch, then think about young children who have a favorite movie that they have seen over and over. It is not the least uncommon for them to have EVERY word memorized and recite them as the movie plays in unison.
Our minds have greater abilities than what may now be considered that they have.
Finally, I just wanted to mention that Jesus, according to the bible, spoke about "the eye" a few times. In one place he speaks of "the eye being single" and in the scripture quoted the singular is also used. Not "eyes", but the "eye". To me this is in reference to the 3rd chakra aka the mind's eye.
Of course, scripture also has many levels of meaning to it... so, I do not discount the possibility that he was also referring to the health of the individual. Afterall, health is reflected in the eyes and being spiritually healthy, in my opinion, is the first step towards acheiving physical health.
Just my thoughts on this. Take what you will and leave the rest.
