This is called urinary retention, I believe. Antihistamines can create or worsen this problem. I stopped the benedryl and the problem got much, much better.
As much as I hate to say this, I could go and get yourself checked out to rule out stuff. It's probably not anything serious, but with any such issue, it's best to know what you are dealing with.
As mentioned, one possibility is inflammation and also consider low level infection.
Dr. Schulze 's kidney/bladder is excellent for infection. Also, D-mannose,
Colloidal Silver , olive leaf and goldenseal. If you are taking anything very acidic, consider stopping. For example, vitamin C, cranberry extract, drinking coffee, etc.
Have you gotten checked for spine and structural issues? A good osteopath who specializes in back adjustments could help. Also, I would think that stress and tension could impact this by muscle spasms.
