The December issue of Doctor David
Williams' print newsletter, Alternatives, arrived today. The entire issue is devoted to Lyme Disease; the first time in my memory that Dr. Williams has limited himself to just one topic.
I will give you a few highlights from the newsletter. However. I urge anyone who has Lyme disease -- or knows someone else who has it -- to get a copy of this newsletter and read it! Call 1-800-718-8293, and ask whether you can buy just this one copy. I don't know what they'll say. If you tell them you will probably subscribe to Alternatives if you like this issue, they may sell it to you.
David Williams is one of my few heroes. I trust him implicitly. So when he says that Lyme disease is "a huge, unrecognized threat spreading silently and quickly among us," I believe him.
Until today, I thought that Lyme disease could only be propagated by infected ticks. That may have been true 20 years ago, but not today. Dr. Williams says that spirochetes of Lyme disease are now in fleas, mites, and mosquitoes. Live spirochetes have been found in blood, urine, tears, semen, breast milk, and vaginal secretions. It has contaminated blood transfusions, and has been found in dairy cattle.
What really stunned me was that Doctor Williams says that Lyme disease (LD) can mimic more that 350 other medical conditions. That list contains just about every disease or degenerative condition that any of us have ever heard of.
Williams says that there may be 20 million people in the USA who are infected with Lyme disease -- most of them, without knowing it. They attribute their symptoms to another disease that Lyme has perfectly imitated.
Doctor Williams says the standard tests for LD are often innaccurate (Western Blot & ELISA). He recommends a new test (Q-RIBb) which is highly accurate and provides results in just 20 minutes. Check out the test at this website:

Doctor Williams says that the currently-prescribed medications do little to alleviate the condition. Antibiotics must be taken for 8 to 16 months to completely rid the body of the Lyme spirochete. Most insurance plans only pay for the first 60 days. The result? People quit the treatment after a few months, and resign themselves to suffer from LD the rest of their days.
However, there is GOOD NEWS! Doctor Williams cites a recent study in the USA in which 28 people suffering from severe LD were treated for 6 months. 14 of the patients received the standard doses of Antibiotics . The other 14 took doses of Cat's Claw, an herb from the Brazilian rainforest with a legendary reputation. The result? Three of the fourteen who took Antibiotics showed slight improvement. But ALL of the 14 who took Cat's Claw showed "dramatic improvement." Indeed, 12 of the 14 were tested at the end of six months, and NO trace of LD remained!

This is a reply to # 52,330Owen, I have heard of Cat's Claw for many ailments, many times, and have recently considered taking it for my health problems (mainly Crohns disease, which I've heard it can help). I think it is Rio Health in the UK that stock the Samento that you mention. Your messages have just made my mind up for me, and I'm going to order some. Thank you for the information, this could be a momentous discovery! I'll let you know of any developments.

The 'crohns' disease has not been too bad since I've learnt more about it, what helps, and what doesn't etc. I do know however, that my ESR level is very high still, and my iron levels are very low due to the inflamation. I am so tired of feeling ill, sometimes actually feeling worse when my body is trying to digest food instead of expelling it! I have heard about the more potent form of Cats Claw from Rio Health, and YES, I have a strong feeling that it's what I need. 6 months? Wow, I'm getting some!
BTW, both my father and I have always been a feeding ground for all types of insects. Sadly, he died many years ago of malignant melinoma. When he was out in Malasia he caught Malaria. I do not know if there is any connection with Lyme disease, but keep an open mind. I have read your message on Suggestions to Webmaster and I hope your (brilliant) idea is taken up.

The classic symptoms of Lyme Disease are mild to severe joint and muscle
pain, and flu-like symptoms that
include fatigue, backache, stiff
neck, and headaches. In the most
severe cases, chronic Arthritis is
common, and there are complications
in the heart and nervous system.

This is a reply to # 52,345Thank you very much for all of your help. My sister has been having severe stomach pains and vomiting. Everytime she eats, she gets very sick. She can barely eat now, but there has been hardly any weight loss. It's as if she is bulimic. One doctor said it could not be Crohns because she has had no weight loss, then another said it is crohns. We are very confused right now. I'm just trying to find any kind of explanation for her illness. Thank you for all of your help.

This is a reply to # 52,367Karli, there was also some confusion over my diagnosis. The radiologist told me that it was not crohns, but definately inflamation, over about 2/3rds of the small intestine. The consultant insisted that it was crohns, but would not show me the x-rays. He wanted to send me away with huge amounts of steroids, iron pills and anti-inflamatories. I was convinced (because of the radiologist) that the consultant was only saying crohns, because there was inflamation, without looking at a cause. I've had other tests done after this, and they too came back as Crohns, apart from one doctor that said colitis of the small intestine. I think that this means that there was inflamation, but NOT through all the layers, which is how it is in true crohns. Has your sister had any tests done? One thing that always helps me, is slippery elm tea, it works like magic for any stomach upsets, and nausea/diahrea.

It's terrible to be sick like your
sister is, and not know what's wrong. If your intuition tells you
she might be suffering from Lyme
disease, then you can have her tested for Lyme by Bowen Labs.
If the test comes back positive,
as Alice's did, your sister can
begin the Cat's Claw, vitamin C
protocol. I suggest she begin taking
large doses of vitamin C right now.
Vitamin C is the "ammunition" her
immune system needs to fight off
the illness that is attacking her.
It's not the only thing she needs,
but I think it will help.
I will keep your dear sister in my
prayers. Let us know what you decide
to do.

I was lucky enough to have my new Doctor send my blood to the Bowen Research Lab for testing. She said it was the only place she would send it.
It came back positive. I've had Lyme for over 35 years and never knew what I had. It has come and gone over the years in many different ways. I'm so thankful for my Dr.'s knowledge.
I am on Cat's claw, mega dose of Vitamin C, and pulsing Antibiotics .
My eye site is back to normal, I was going blind again in my left eye. Losing color and everything going "brown". And the lyme is leaving my face.
My Doctor showed me Dr. Williams report and I got a copy from another health care person the next day.
I believe there may be hope that we can be cured…..

Its a pleasure! Glad you found it interesting. I have just had a very unusual chat with my sister, who has fibromaralga. I remember her having a tick bite whilst camping, 4 years ago. She was very ill afterwards with flu, and ending up in a wheelchair, unable to move her legs. After going on a strict vegan diet, taking supplements (including large doses of Vit. C), she has recovered enough to live a near normal life, but does get very tired quickly, and if she does too much, she gets ill again. Anyway, I thought at the time, Lymes Disease? and read up on it. She did have some of the symptoms, but not the face rash that is supposed to go with it, so we discounted it (foolishly). My sister had forgotten about that incident, but thinking back she realises that was when her illness started.
I have been reading quite extensively about Lymes, Cats Claw etc, and came across an interesting article about tick bite infections being passed on through childbirth (my father?) and lying dormant for years, only to appear at times of stress, illness or injury to the body (even childbirth). It was after my second child that I became ill, and after a tick bite with my sister.
Of course, this is all just heresay, but Cats Claw is recommended as an excellent anti-inflammatory, so I shall take it anyway, if only for that reason!

This is so encouraging! I too became ill immediately following the birth of my third child. The symptoms were classic Lyme disease symptoms, but the lab tests were negative. Since then (almost 16 years) I have been diagnosed with fybromyalgia, but also have severe allergies, tinnitus, IBS, and even had Bells Palsy. I have tried so many different diets and supplements which have only helped alleviate symptoms, but have not reversed the disease. This has given me renewed hope! I am going to have the recommended testing done just as soon as possible!!

It checks to see if your body is making specific antibodies to fight various proteins on the Bb organism. As I described earlier, however, if the organism has changed forms or is “in hiding,” or if your immune system is not putting up a good defense, there may be little, if any, indication from the test that you are infected with the organism.
Many doctors unfamiliar with Lyme also don’t realize that if the patient has been taking steroids, Antibiotics , or anti-inflammatory medications (even over-the-counter drugs like ibuprofen or naproxen) the Western Blot test can provide false-negative results. To get an accurate reading, patients should be off all medications of these types for at least six weeks—and some are saying for as long as six months—before the test.
Doctors are finding increasingly often that Lyme infections can exist without any symptoms until the patient suffers from some traumatic or stressful event. This event could be mental stress or a physical injury or accident. With a relative of mine, a normal pregnancy happened to be the triggering event.
