Does your friend have "indolent" lymphoma? With indolent lymphoma, a continuing high fever(one of the "B" symptoms) may be a sign that the cancer has transformed to a more aggressive cancer. Many patients who have had chemotherapy (CHOP plu Rituxan) at the time their NHL turned aggressive have had lengthy remissions--10, even 20 or more years and counting--especially if areas of bulky lymphoma are irradiated. I hate the thought of using chemo, but would probably use it if my lymphoma progresses. (I have Nodal Marginal Zone B-cell, Stage 4A).
Best wishes, Kelly S.
