Well...I've got my Pear source from a couple different places.
1. Traditional Chinese Medicine
Pear (taken from 'The way of Chinese Herbs' by Michael Tierra)
Pears are good for heat and dryness of the lungs. To expectorate mucous from the bronchioles and/or lungs.
Pears are: 'cool' (if you're a 'heat' person (redness is a good indication of heat in the body - and eating things that are 'cool' in nature help to balance) and they affect the Lungs and Stomach.
Pears Clear heat, produce fluids, lubricate dryness, eliminate phelgm.
Good for: clearing lungs/cough, constipation, alcoholism, indigestion, difficulty swallowing, difficulty urinating, diabetes.
2.
Edgar Cayce 's health readings.
His 'Source' suggested either 3Day Apple Fasts, 4Day Pear Fasts or 5Day Grape Fasts (all organic, of course!) to detoxify the system.
Put 1 and 2 together and you've got something that works to clear up many different things, I think!!

Also, I just spent the day yesterday printing out soooo many articles on www.thedoctorwithin.com site and reading reading reading! (my mom and her husband read with me - and they have been profoundly affected by what they read! Big changes! I'll let you all know how their 60 experiment goes. They both have allergies that have just got out of hand.)

*and eventually read ALL of the articles...they are amazing, so logical...he is a GREAT teacher and he appears to not be selling anything - he recommends a good brand, but you buy it through the other people. Anyway, he seems filled with integrity. Read his CV*
After reading his articles I, personally, feel that any type of fast, whether it's the
Edgar Cayce detox fasts or the
Master-Cleanse - are great jumping off points. I'm sure they do an amazing job at detoxifying - but I feel pretty sure that what this guy recommends is a more permanent 'cure'. Ideally, I'd start with a good fast and then move into the regime he suggests, which is basically - change in diet (raw veg/fruit with grains and other stuff - non-medicated meat too - you'll see) and b&p's, enzymes, probiotics and lots of water.
Start printing it out and reading it...I think it will revolutionize your health!
*yeah, I know that 'O's need meat....if it's 'organic' meat then that will be fine for you.
