Dot, I just wanted to reply to your message. The International Churches of Christ have been called a cult, but now a lot of it is changing. You need to understand that there are people who are truly committed to God, no matter what church they're in. People have a pure love for God, and committed to following Him, no matter what group of people they decide to worship with. The church isnt the building, it's the people. And God knows who's are His, doesnt he? I believe someone can be saved whether they worship by themselves in the desert, or with a group of people. But, you cannot label everyone in a particular group. You sounded really judgmental, which is something that the International Churches of Christ are getting away from. You are no better than they are, if you're going to label people like that. It's the same thing. You can't judge other peoples hearts, only God can. Now about other biblical issues you brought up, about baptism, there are many scripture that support baptism. When Jesus was on the cross with the thief(you mentioned this), He had authority to forgive sins while He was here on this earth. About speaking in tongues, etc., etc. I do not want to argue about disputable matters with you, what matters is that Gods love is preached, no matter where it is. People can believe or not believe whatever they want, God is MUCH, MUCH bigger than our measly belief system. God is soveriegn over all, and He loves us and accepts us, even if some of our beliefs, and attitudes are not correct. We need to be careful not to judge and label, we need to forgive past sins of the International Churches of Christ too. A lot of the leaders have written apology after apology. I think it's great when religious leaders can admit they were wrong, and repent and change. That doesnt happen very often, in any church. It takes a great loving heart for God, to admit and confess mistakes. Lord knows I have made mistakes, and I cannot cast stones at ANYONE else. NO ONE should do this. We all have sin. I love you and pray that there can be unity in this forum, through our love for God and one another. God bless you all!!
