I'm very glad that you have been able to realize God's forgiveness...bless God for His working in your life and bless your heart and your dear husband. To me, the measure of guilt a person feels doesn't make a sin worse or less than another as each individual will feel a different measure for the same sin...some are able to overcome and desensitize themselves to sin quite well though God will still "bring it up" when the adversary and flesh have tried to bury it. I didn't think anyone was being without compassion but rather speaking about abortion itself from how God views it. We all are responsible for the choices we make even when another has contributed to how we've developed our decisions(and this is exactly how the adversary does with us all when no person is around and we as believers choose flesh over Spirit). Even though believers, upon belief and receiving Jesus as their Lord and Savior, have been forgiven of all sin past, present, and future they will choose to act on, that forgiveness is not "real" to them until they admit it to God and appropriate that forgiveness in time. Others not believers aren't forgiven until they ask though He does seek to forgive and save those that aren't yet His dear children. I too(and also have other family members) was abused in many ways as a child and did my best to rationalize my actions by blaming the actions of my parents till God continued to reach out to me in love and bring me to the end of myself. He then showed me that He wanted me to employ the mind of Christ rather than let flesh and the adversary have control of "me". Now...though I don't always do so immediately but God's improving me on it...I can stop, drop, pray and check thoughts at the door of my mind, evaluate whether they are thoughts that God has of me as His child or if they are thoughts of condemnation by my flesh or the adversary of God and His children, and can exchange those thoughts intended to invoke guilt and harm to me with thoughts of being free in Christ and His love for me that builds me up in Christ(and makes me thankful and empowered in His provisions to put Satan in his right place in my life). Doing so appropriates the joy and peace of Philippians 4 thru the mind of Christ and really does make life in and with Christ "just that simple". Words just can't express how wonderful I think it is how God worked things out in your life...He is just AWESOME and it is just awesome that you could share your testimony with us.
