Hi quilter1052,
My husband had a bout of lymphodema about a yr. ago, what we did was, he would jump up and down on our bed, because we really couldn't get ahold of a trampoline. Obviously, he couldn't jump as high as a trampoline, but, he felt better and the swelling does get better. the thing is to get the lymph system to start moving. also, if you "brush" your body towards the heart, that helps a lot. You're supposed to buy a special type of brush for that, I'm sure someone on this forum would know, but my husband used a regular brush, and that works fine too. If she can't brush her body herself, you can help. These may seem like "small" measures to take, but they actually do help.
