Betty,
I have made several of these this year and am using them now. I am finding that some of my best are made with the hottest peppers I could find- fresh and dried habaneros plus fresh garlic. I found the 40 to 50% alcohol worked fine. The idea on the full moon is that it exerts the max. affect on "pulling" out the active ingredient at that time. The idea of turning them is to prevent bacteria from growing in them. I found that turning them ONCE per day worked fine- never lost one. I did have one that I never turned and it turned out to be a "stinker". My favorite drink is 6oz. of V8 juice heated, (heat first) then a pinch of celtic
Sea Salt and then one level teaspoon of tincture.
I asked in a post if one level tsp. of tincture is the equivalent of one level tsp. of powdered dried habanero- and it is. I also asked what the theraputic dose of cayenne is and found that you should take at least 100,000 heat unit, not in a capsule, but dried or tincture. The red peppers are about 40,000, jalapeno are around 80,000 (scoville units), habaneros are 200,000-250,000. I found that those capsules of cayenne caused my stomach problems..........wishing you health gen129(Bill)
