I am a native North Carolinian and I ran across some stupid laws that exist in my state. If you are interested, give me the name of your state and I will tell you a few of yours. Here goes:

1. It's against the law to sing off-key.
2. Elephants may not be used to plow cotton fields.
3. If a man and woman who aren't married go to a hotel/motel and register themselves as married, according to state law, they are legally married.
4. All couples staying overnight in a hotel must have a room with double beds at least 2 feet apart. Making love on the floor between them is strictly forbidden.
5. A marriage can be declared void if either of the two people is physically impotent.
6. In Charlotte (my home town) women must have their bodies covered by at least 16 yards of cloth at all times.
7. In Forest City, you must stop and call City Hall before entering town in an automobile. This is so the townspeople can get out and hold their horses while you get through town.
8. Charlotte, again. It is unlawful to discharge a shotgun within 2 blocks of the "Square" (center of town).
