How great to find this forum! I am a glass artist, disguised as some sad corporate hack. I was lucky enough to take 14 months off in 2002 (got laid off) and tried my hand at making a career in art. Did very well, but not as well as the corporate salary, so off I went for another two years of torture. Well, I got laid off! Yes lucky me, I can really pick them. I've been off work since 2/13, and will spend my time doing MORE artwork while looking for a job. I really wish I could make a living doing this, and I did very very well my first year, winning an award, getting into multiple galleries and stores. I really put my back into it, using all the skills I did on my jobs. (production, sales, etc). But, all-in-all, I just couldn't come close to corporate america. Sucks.
Anyone out there actually earning a living at this? Please, please, tell me your secret!
Here's one of my glass sculptures. I put the rest on the upload page. I hope I did it right. For some reason the title of my work is "Forum". Oh well.
