Have you asked about this to any of the Yahoo groups that deal with MCS? If you need the URLs, I can get them for you. There has not been much activity on here lately. Personally, I have not had success with any personal air filters/purifiers, but there is a lady who is able to work at a store in a nearby town IF she wears hers around her neck. I can call up there tomorrow to get the make/model of the one she uses. We are all so different in what and how much we can tolerate of all those chemicals in the environment. I have to use a nose clip AND a carbon-filtered mask for going out anywhere. How long have you had MCS?

i have had mcs for 7 years and from my personal experience with air purifiers for cars and other person air purifiers, i have to say that they dont work very well at all in a car. i went through a lot of cars before i found out what needs to be done to make trips with very few reactions, and the most important things that you have to do is find a car at least 2 years old but not so old that it has rich exhaust emissions.make sure you have cloth interior. and one of the most important thing that needs to be done is have all the engine gaskets changed that are leaking oil,then use a non toxic degreaser such as aerospace 303 citrus based cleaner, and clean the oil off the engine then hose the engine down, make sure you dont have any exhaust leaks, and make sure the tailpipe emissions is clean and within limits. always drive with the windows closed to keep out as much exhaust as possible. if you follow these instructions you will be able to travel in you car more normally with very few reactions.

I have used a portable ozone air cleaner from Alpine in past. They were the best I could find as of 1998. Many newer ones have unneeded extra features and are not simple and easy to repair oneself like the older Alpines. Not sure how to get now, have heard the co has changed names and products. Maybe try used, Craig's list? Should be fraction of new price then, too!

Results were only fair. I had a tendency to try to do too much driving, get gradual buildup of symptoms and longer reovery time instead of sudden reaction. I do best if I only drive once or twice a week and only 30 min to 1 hr, avoiding heavy traffic.

I no longer use an air cleaner in my car, as restricting my driving works better. I DO have an Alpine air cleaner running constantly in my home. This helps greatly with laundry odors and woodsmoke infiltrating from neighbors.
