A Medical Doctor recommended a mixture of Water, Rubbing Alcohol and Hydrogen Peroxide. 3 Parts Alcohol, 2 Parts Hydrogen Peroxide and 5 Parts Water.
This is a mixture to use for children, after swimming.
I had been taking oatmeal baths for posion Ivy, onece in 12 hours, good releif for the Poison Ivy Itching, and Redness, but my right ear got clogged up. Don't know if it is an infection, no fever yet.
So I have been lying down and dropping 4 or 5 drops in the ear, seems to be getting better. I can hear the Ear Drops bubbling in my ear.
Googled Ear Infection, and found some articles that suggest that anti-biotics may have been over-prescribed in the past, for ear pain. The ear has curative processes to rid itself of Wax and contaminated water, or other fluids, in the inner ear. There are medications OTC, that can alleviat the pain, so the ear's curative processes can alleviate the problem fluids. The papers point out that taking anti-biotics, alone, does nothing for the pain, for at least 24 Hours, and does not assist the ear's natural curative processes. Taking an anti-biotic when there is a viral or fungal problem, will be of no use, also, and there is no simple way to identify bacteria, fungus or viral infewctions, in the inner ear.
So if there is not a high fever, the current recommendation is to try the pain relieving and fluid moving medications, that will help hte ear's natural curative processes to work. I got some Saline Nasal spray, just to keep the sinuses side of the ear canals open, and draining
I bought some children's ear pain medication, and found nearly immediate relief.
I took a bath, just now, for the first time after my ear pain first got intense, and put in the Hydrogen Peroxide and rubbing alcohol drops, each side, the ear pain is not getting worse. I cut the grass again thie evening, and wanted to take a bath to wash off any bad plant oils.
I had originally started taking more oatmeal baths, becuase I had Posion Ivy. After my head felt bloated, and my ear was poinding, I really did not notice the Posion Ivy irritation and itching anymore. Now that my ear pain is under control, and no fever, I am starting to notice and focus back on treating my poison Ivy irritation.
