Please if there is an expert out there, Please give us your thoughts on this: (Soo many people have expressed confusion about acid and alkaline balance, here is another wrench in the works!)
I thought that the reason the large intestine and stomach need to be acidic is to complete the digestion process, and that the ENTIRE REST of the body should be on the alkaline side of the scale for best health. All of the folks promoting "alkalize thy body to prevent cancer and other health problems" seem to agree with this.
Yet suddenly I found the following two quotes, that completely contradict this. WHY? How could this be true??
"Most infectious pathogenic bacteria thrive in an alkaline pH. The following bacteria, all well-known enemies of modern science's war on bacterial infection, grew optimally on alkaline media of pH 7.4 and above: staphylococcus (staph infection), streptococcus (strep throat), pneumococcus (pneumonia), h. influenza (the flu), meningococcus (meningitis), corymbacterium diptheria (diptheria), clostridium tetani (tetanus), and others."
"The continuous production of Clostridium tetani toxin has been carried out in a 1-liter stirred culture vessel for as long as 65 days. Toxin production of approximately 120 flocculating units per ml was maintained with a dilution rate of 0.125 hr-1, a temperature of 34 C, a pH of 7.4"
Yet, in the book “The Nutrition Solution: A Guide to Your Metabolic Type”, by Dr. Lee M.D., he states “a healthy body has an ideal blood pH of 7.46”
Huh? That’s almost exactly the Ph that Clostridium tetani and other bacteria apparently thrive in… what is going on?
