This question has been coming up a lot lately, so I thought it deserved its own post. So if I don't answer your particular post, please don't take it personally! :)
Can you take too much of a good thing? Absolutely. A good thing remains a good thing only when it's in appropriate doses and usage. Too much of a good thing makes it a bad thing. And even many "bad" things are totally okay in small doses. Balance is key! Remember, moderation in all things, including moderation.
The body can do very well left on its own, this is why fasting works. So if in doubt, do less, not more. Don't megadose those vitamins, they'll just give you expensive pee. Don't take the strongest senna laxative, try the weakest intervention first (drinking a large cup of very warm water) and see if that works for you.
How much is too much? That totally depends on your Dosha, diet, current state of health, many factors. :)
For instance, when I'm on a really good health streak and cooking all my foods rather than going to the vending machine (which I must admit I am this week because my juice bar is closed for repairs argh how DARE they), then I have to be sure and eat
Sea Salt , add it to my cereal, veggies, what have you. If I've neglected to drink my full measure of
ounces of water, I don't use salt. I don't eat processed foods for the most part, so I get no "hidden" salt.
Part of the wonder and joy of this journey to vital health is we must get really in tune with our bodies. We have to discover our true comfort zones and needs, and NOT the abstract, unreal "RDA"'s or other guidelines. We find out real world vs. in our heads world. Our bodies will never lie to us. They will always tell us the truth.
After a certain point of reaching balance, we realize that we've actually forgotten totally about our bodies and symptoms because we're so in the moment, in the now, and wait - is that ME running to my CAR because I have so much energy?!? Like wow!
