Yes many times. I go on fasts (distilled water only), and it is a great way to get your head in the right place for doing it. Or anything else for that matter. Start out a week or so before and do it every day setting a target date. When the date arrives, mentally you are ready. Providing you do it every day at least once. More if you have time.
