Thank you, FreeAgain.
I do not disagree with your comment, however, there is no money to be made here (selling broccoli) so why rush and invest in studies to provide a peer reviwed journal article? We may never see that.
In addition, published "in a peer-reviewed scientific or medical journal" does not make a finding or study valid (including this one), nor does it make for safe and/or effective medicine. One need only look at all the class action lawsuits against pharmaceutical companies now and in the past to understand that a great many of these "peer-reviews" were designed by the companies that had money to make to provide positive results. Some of the results published were completely manufactured, and most if not all have been skewed to push worthless, high mark up drugs on a trusting world populace, make stock holders happy, and CEOs wealthy.
I have read recently that some research scientists (Merk Vioxx trials) are now coming clean in court trials by admitting to falsifying (in some cases fabricating entire research) and/or skewing research and studies in favor of the companies they work for. It is all about the bottom line, public be damned. Medicine should keep us out of the hospital, not put us in it.
An important thing to consider when using any food, including broccoli, to help with any diseased condition is that there is no one miracle food; for example, it may take daily ingestion of ten different foods over a period of time to help mitigate a problem.

It is sad, but it is getting increasingly difficult to trust anyone that is selling anything anymore; companies will make money at your expense and health; and the government does not protect the public. I should stop before I get into the manipulation of the population with fear... hint, do not watch TV or read the news.
