Can you carry herpes in your system without ever having an outbreak and then months/years later all of a sudden have a massive outbreak/attack?
The reason I ask is that I'm having a massive herpes attack (although waiting on lab tests for proof). I get a fever, headache, sore throat, back pain, very very painful urination, bunch of nasty blisters on my penis and at the base of it as well as 2 more on my stomach. I never had this before. The girl I'm with says I gave it to her and says I probably didn't know I had it........but I've never have experienced anything like this before. Shes waiting on test results too. As far as I've read on it your first outbreak is the worse and gradually it gets better.
I started getting just the fever and sore throat a couple days after having unprotected sex with her. I went to the doctor and visually I was diagnosed with Strep throat but now I think that I was diagnosed wrong. It went away a week later but it came back with a vengeance with a whole bunch of blisters. I went back and my doctor says its most likely Herpes...but like I said officially still waiting on test results. My doctor gave me some Valtrex to help with the outbreak but it doesn't seem to helping that much. Everytime I go to pee its like the worse thing in this world, my body aches and I have a constant sore throat.

but whatever. it doesnt change anything. you can carry it. but you usually get the reaction you are having after getting it from someone else because your body doesnt have an immunity built up to it yet.
feel better. have some chicken ,cheese or potato while you are sick. it will help you heal faster.

advil i found to be the best for herpes pain. when you pee take a cup of warm water and pour it over your "pee hole" as you are going. it might be easier to do if you sit down to pee.- Re: Carrying herpes in your system w... blackcat

I was given Valtrex yesterday. She said take 4 right away and 4 more in 12 hours.
She said if I still get outbreaks that I might be a good candidate for suppresive treatment. So far nothing really has happened though. Still have all the problems minus the fever.

This is a reply to # 372,898yes that pain. and the burning swelling hot pain you get when you pee.
dont bother with supressive treatment. your body will learn to fight it on its own.
medications for comfort only cover up symptoms without letting your body naturally find its way to fight it. plus it taxes all the other organs that you need for health.
its a lot more mild in guys than girls too. i treated my first outbreak. and that was the only one. i felt like you do though. i was given it. thats why i think that maybe because your outbreaks is so severe that she gave it to you.
since your fever is gone you will notice you will start healing pretty quickly now.

my first one was going on 6 years ago.
my last one was about 4 or 5 years ago.-

and then blister over just like chickenpox? I tried looking for pics of my blisters but none of them matched. They look more like chickenpox. I remember having chickenpox when I was a kid and this looks just like it...I remember I wanted to pick the scabs and my mom would tell me not too...lol

This is a reply to # 372,909One other thing...my blisters are growing in numbers the general breakout areas. I don't touch them or anything. They suppose to do that? Can I stop this from happening somehow?
When I shower I dab the area once lightly and let it dry via air. I'm very careful not to touch the scabs or anything. The only thing I can think of is my underwear/bed sheets rubbing against it...like tearing the blister head and then whatevers in the head spreading to the skin around it.

have you tried googling herpes foods yet?
topically i used zoverax cream for my first outbreak and found that to be a GREAT relief. dont freak out about the $$. a little tube lasts a long time. i dont even think i finished it. you have to use so little of the ointment.
dont wear tight pants when you are breaking out. and if you can sleep without pants.
air makes it dry up faster and heal. just something i have noticed.
dont put gold bond powder or anything with cortizone on the sores. it makes them worse.Advertisement

This is a reply to # 372,912I googled it...foods mostly containing lysine. I've been eating cheese, chicken and potatos mostly...
I don't wear tight pants and always sleep naked...I just don't understand how the blistered areas keep growing. If they keep growing at the rate they are right now my entire body will be covered by the end of the year. Its like a hot fire on dry summer grasslands. Its not suppose to be like that is it? This goes against my doctors whole thing about the virus not being able to live outside the body cause these blisters get cracked open and infect the areas around them and keep on spreading.
My status hasn't changed since day 1.
The blisters dont hurt at all...just itch a little after a shower. BTW - Should it matter if I bath or shower?
The warm water idea helped a lot...thx.

This is a reply to # 372,913i was freaked out by my first. i had it even on my thigh. a patch about 2 inches wide of clustered blisters.
on my area i had about 6 or 7 or more clusters. they were tiny. i second outbreak i had three pin head sized dots. and then it just became slits. and then just itchy. and now i dont break out at all. i was VERY freaked out by my first because of it spreading. but in three days i noticed the actual sick feelings starting to go away.
have you been tested for other stds including aids?
if not i think you should.
are you still feeling sick?
have you had those blisters swabbed?
someone else in here had good results by putting coconut oil on them.
you could also get some of that herpes chapstick and put it on them. i think its called herpicin or something like that. apply it with a q-tip. not your finger because you can spread it to your finger as well.
try icing the areas down that are really inflammed.
how long till you get the test results back?
bath or shower is your choice.i liked doing the bath thing because it was soothing to the area and it felt like it dried up more quickly.
if you are taking allergy meds right now...stop. they make my break outs worse. i dont know why. another person on here has the same issue with allergy pills.

This is a reply to # 372,9153 months before this girlfriend I got tested for STD's. My 2 previous girlfriends said they got a yeast infection (when I was with them) and I had some cloudy piss at the time...nothing hurt or seemed wrong or anything. I just mentioned it to my doctor casually when I was there for a work related medical problem for possible over exposure to X-Rays. She said I probably had some bacteria in my urinary tract or something and gave me some anti-biotics and tested me for STD's just in case. They did a blood test and a urine test. The results were negative for STD's. I didn't ask what specific tests they did though....I'll ask my doctor the next time I'm there.
I did get a blister swabbed when I was there. I also did a piss test. I'll ask her for an Aids test next time too. I don't feel sick at all. I feel fine right now...sore throat is down too. Just have the blisters still and painful urination. My inguinal nodes are swollen....kinda hurt a bit.
One blister on my stomach looks like its going down in size...like 10 more on my pelvis and penis have now appeared. They swell up like an infected pimple with white head...burst and scab over. They don't really look like a cluster or anything....just bad Acne or chickenpox. I asked a friend about the one on my stomach and he said ya it does look like herpes. I have allergies but I don't take allergy pills. I dont like taking pills if I dont need too.
Diagnosis Scoreboard:
1. 24 hour clinic doctor - gonorrea/clamidia
2. family doctor - gonorrea/clamidia possibly herpes
3. girlfriends doctor - herpes at first then gonorrea/clamidia after second opinion from another doctor
4. myself - gonorrea at first then herpes
5. family doctor - another visit after fever symptoms...herpes
6. previous girlfriend - ??? (I emailed her but haven't heard anything back...think shes still pissed that I broke up with her and now this)
7. lab tests in 2-3 weeks - ???
I went to bug them last Friday about the test results and the ladies in the office were like you have to wait 2-3 weeks. What a horrible wait time. It makes it worse as I see this these blisters spread across my body and the doctors and I have really no clue what it is...and anything applied so far has done little to stop it.
If this is herpes and I get another outbreak in the future do the blisters appear in the same spots as the initial infection or are they random?

This is a reply to # 372,916I have a question about some of the symptoms you said you had, specifically you said that on your pelvis you had some "things" that looked like pimples which then burst and scabbed over, and itched a bit but didn't really hurt... here is my question... my boyfriend had about 10-12 of exactly what your describing for about 2 weeks or so, on his lower stomach where his pants rubbed on his stomach, so we thought they were from heat, however, a few weeks after those appeared, I had my first outbreak and was diagnosed with herpes. Still not sure if what he has was herpes or not, I sort of believe it was (not that it matters I love him just the same) but there are precautions that should be taken, and diagnoses that should be done. The pissing pain is the most painful for me and there is no way I could not have noticed that before. I've heard the first time you outbreak is the most painful/worst outbreak you'll have. I have never experienced anything like this in my life. I had a headache, super sore throat, fever, blisters everywhere around my groin area, penis, etc and 2 on my stomach.
In my case it seems like my girl gave it to me. I'm betting that she didn't know cause she was mis-diagnosed as having strep throat several times just as I was 2 weeks ago. I know its not strep throat now cause of the pissing pain and blisters.
I don't understand how my doctor can say the virus cant live outside the body when its spreading like this...unless of course they are just sprouting up now and were infected earlier when we had sex.

well for me i broke out in the same places. BUT i did not get huge ones like the first time and i only had it in three places instead of everywhere. and just one little baby blister on those places not clusters. the guy that gave it to me got it on his stomach too. he wore tight pants..so i dont know if the heat and friction had something to do with making him break out.
its a little different in everyone. i had type one (primarly oral)
if it is herpes i read that treating your first outbreak reduces the severity of future outbreaks. so if it is herpes you are doing everything right that you can.
yeh it sucks that you have to wait but thats how long it takes a culture to grow in the petri dish and then the paperwork shuffle.
well in the meantime you can go get a bloodtest for AIDS for free at your local health department. and they give you a # so you dont have your name on that test if you are worried about that. a full std screen usually includes a vial of blood for aids, a vial for syphillis, a piss test, a q-tip swab in your pee hole and a culture of any visable sores.
it sounds like you are getting better at least. i ended up going to the ER just so i could have a doctor write me a script for herpes pills and cream. if you are spreading like you are get that zoverax cream. the first outbreak is a bitch.

This is a reply to # 372,922I was thinking I might have secondary stage syphilis...now. The blisters around my penis are disappearing and now I'm getting red wart like bumps on my hand (front and back). Still hurts to piss and now I'm coughing. This sound right?
My doctor is away on holidays and the office there still hasn't got my test results back. Freakin horrible....
