5-htp really didn't help me with carb cravings personally. I tried it for 2 months, no success really. It helped a little in the sudden downrush of feeling after binging, to the point where I haven't purged for several months.
But I have found something that gets rid of my cravings for constant something in my mouth! I'd already figured out that I have a problem with
Sugar as I can sleep on strong energy drinks just because I crash on the
Sugar less than an hour later.
So I tried something really silly. I started adding a cinnamon stick to soak in my coffee(I've been drinking it black for a long time since I learned that the
Sugar I love counteracts the only reason I drink it). It's actually at the point where I'm not hungry, I haven't eatn since 3pm and I don't feel this urge to go waste my money on vending machines. I've even put it in hot unsweetened cranberry juice(which just means no added sugar.. has plenty of natural sugar to make me crash) and still no problems(and its yummy.. taste like cider). I dont honestly know if it will consistently help with binging, but it's a small small hope. I mean, my problem is bad enough that eating an apple will start a binge cycle of wanting more sugar in my mouth.
