I'm writing this letter to ask if you could tell me what might have happened to my 11 year old daughter when she received her second Hepatitis b shot.
After the nurse injected the shot into her arm she got up and almost tripped into the next examination room across the hall and fell flat to the ground. I went to pick her up not knowing what had happened, and when I lifted her up she was lifeless, and then her body started to shake. It was very frightening.
The nurse and doctor came over to her and she started to cry. She had passed out, and when she hit the floor her chin was bleeding and she had to get six stitches.
The doctor seems to think that she just passed out, but I am concerned about why she shook the way she did!
She seems okay now, but I am scared to death to get her third shot. Can you please tell me your opinion or let me know if you ever heard of a reaction to the Hepatitis B shot?

This is a reply to # 368,580My 11 YO son received his first shot TODAY. I did it because his school kept calling and telling us that it was required. Unfortunately I was not aware of any ill effects. 2 minutes after he got the shot he passed out.
He's OK now. Just keeping an eye on him. He will not get another shot, now will my other kids. I plan on visiting the school Monday! - Re: She just passed out after the se... daisym

This is a reply to # 368,580I just read on another site where an entire family except one member became sick from getting these shots. The third member did not get the 3rd shot after watching her family become so ill. MoreThis is a reply to # 368,580i wouldn't worry to much. i used to faint just about evertime i got a shot back in high school and would usually be out cold and require a wiff or two of smelling salt to come to. it may have just been the needle. how long was she out and what was done to bring her to.
