i was trying to get this friend of mine to get started on eating healthier, and not just the SAD -- eating more nuts/seeds/fresh veges/fruit etc.... and he is liking it a lot, except now he's got the runs? it's been a few days thus far... is it cos the new diet has started off some cleansing/detoxing thing happening...? any input would be appreciated... a bit worried about this friend... :-( !!!!
Hi. Same thing happened to me when I seriously started eating fruit and veg. Particularly fruit. From what I gathered at the time it's pretty normal as your body is adjusting to the intake. I have found since then that my stool (sorry!) has been much softer, but that's a good thing and the way it should be. Tell your friend to hang in there- it should normalize soon.

Try cooking the veggies at first, then gradually begin the raw fruits and veggies to the diet, so as to give the digestive system a breaking-in period. Raw veggies are harder to digest.
