OK, I hardly ever post messages on this web site, but, this Terri Schiavo uproar is so compelling to me. I'm going to try to make this my last message. I think the reason I feel so strongly about Terri's situation is because it is something that could happen to anyone, even me. I can't help but to picture myself in Terri's situation. The thought of being kept alive the way she is, is horrifying to me. It seams totally unnatural to use artificial means (feeding tubes are artificial) to be kept alive. To me death is a natural and normal part of life, to keep a body alive the way Terri is being kept alive just seams wrong to me.
I know most of the people posting on this fourm feel differently. I certainly do not have a problem with folks choosing to keep their bodies alive as long as possible by the use of machines and medical technology. In fact, this is very enlightening for me because I have never known anyone who would choose to live as Terri is. For myself, I would never want that. I think it has something to do with the way my parents raised me. No one in my family would ever choose to live the way Terri is living. We have all discussed this type of thing, even before all the attention of the Terri Schiavo case came into the news. I guess that is why I believe her husband.
To Wrenn, Ev and the others who think I want to "kill" Terri. That is simply not true. I would never put myself in the position of making a decision for a stranger that involves life support. However, if I was in the position to make a dicision like this about a family memeber, I would choose a natural and normal ending to life. Meaning no artificial life support, that includes feeding tubes. I know I can count on my family to do the same for me if I am ever in such an unfortunate possition.

when it's very presence... is always near...
perhaps... we hold our lives to dear...
life should be lived... with every breath...
to know ones self... is to conquer death...
we make our misery... and our lives much harder...
when we seek to cling... and become a martyr...
God wants us happy... joyous... and free...
and if i am troubled... the problem is me...
it is all very simple... for those that can see...
i always thought... it was understood...
that's it's a wonderful day... in my neighborhood...
which is a simple way of saying... i'm not in control...
for only God... looks after my soul...
as for playing God... i'm no longer that bold...
so... i leave the dicisions to those who are wiser...
the light can be blinding... without a sunvisor...
whether you do... or whether you don't...
whether you will... or whether you won't...
it's all up to you... it's not mine to judge...
and on this decision... i will not budge...
