Hi all...I need some advice. My husband of 58 during a routine wellness check was found to have a PSA 7.03, then a recheck of 6.4. He was requested to have a biopsy done, even though he had no obvious problem with symptoms nor family history of prostate cancer. He chose to just get it done and the following is the pathologist's report:

Final Diagnosis:
A. Prostate, needle core biopsy, right: Adenocarcinoma, Gleason 3+3=6, involving 20% of the biopsy.
B. Prostate, needle core biopsy, left: Adenocarcinoma, Gleason 3+3=6, involving less 5% of the biopsy.

The case was reviewed by another member who concurs.

Clinical diagnosis: R/O cap.
Gross description:
A. The specimen consists of four yellow-tan needle cores measuring 0.9 x 0.1 x 0.1 cm and up to 1.5 x 0.1 x 0.1 cm in greatest dimension All/2
B. The specimen consists of four pal white to tan needle cores measuring 0.6 x 0.1 x 0.1 cm and up to 1.8 x 0.1 x 0.1 cm in greatest dimension All/2 (klw)

Microscopic description:
A. Initial and deeper sections show four main needle core biopsy portions of prostate tissue, three of which show involvement with adenocarcinoma. The adenocarcinoma measures at least 0.5 cm in greatest extent and involves approximately 20% of the total tissue sampled. The adenomcarcinoma is composed of single, separate tubular shaped glands which infultrate into the fibromuscular stroma. The tumor cells are cuboidal to low columnar and have large round to ovoid basally oriented nuclei with distinct to prominent nucleoli. Other areas of the prostate tissue show focal high grade prostatic intraepithelial neoplasia. Glandular hyperplasia is also noted.

B. Initial and deeper sections show main needle core biopsy portions of prostate tissue, two of which show involvement with adenocarcinoma. The foci of adenocarcinoma measure 0.1 cm and less than 0.1 cm and involve less than 5% of the total tissue sampled. The adenocarcinoma is similar to that described for part A. Uninvolved areas show glandular hyperplasia. No perineural tumor invasion is identified.


Of course, they want to do surgery to look around for any obvious spread and maybe sample some nodes. My dilemma is that I was diagnosed 1.5 years ago with melanoma and chose an alternative route (after some initial surgery which did not get all) and our lifestyles have changed a lot and I have had my husband on kombucha and Essiac all along, but have had him increase this now along with some oxygen drops,etc. I dont know if he had had a wellness check two years ago, if his psa would have been higher.

Any protocol suggestions and advice on how long a natural protocol may take to show some results.
