I've had lichen planus problems (finially figured out what the blisters in my mouth were through a biopsy), that were related to a chronic candida problem. I haven't had any symptoms since going to a yeast-free diet (starting with taking the "one-time" pill Diflucan every day for 2 1/2 months). Dr. Crook's book "The Yeast Connection" was a great help to me. I had a yeast infection problem for 25 years, and now I just had surgery for thyroid cancer (all of my thryoid and 8 lymph nodes removed). Reading these postings is making me wonder if it's all related.

I went to a dermatologist and was diagnosed with Lichen planus. He gave me some dental paste that was really thick and drying and told me to use it as much as possible. It is imposible to use during the day because it turns into a white pastey mess that won't allow you to swallow or eat, so I use it at night when I can make myself use it. It seems to help somewhat with irritation from spicy foods, but it doesn't make it go away. The doctor seemed "less than hopeful" that it would do much good. The paste is called Triamcinolone Acetonide Dental Paste USP, 0.1%. I have lost track of time but it seems like I have had this for over a year. The doctor said that this does not cause cancer. But I was reading in my studies that cancer is caused when there is constant irritation of a body part, i.e., when a mole is constantly irritated by clothing rubbing it, or when smoking constantly irritates your lungs. It seems that my tongue is irritated by salt, acidic foods, coffee, and spicy foods/hot peppers. So I thought I might try to start trying to avoid irritants and see how that helps. Any thoughts?
