Diet While Rebuilding
Start slowly by adding one or two rebuilding foods per week and don’t have them daily so as to not overwhelm the power of digestion.
Ø Feel free to eat frozen vegetables for convenience’ sake. Better to eat frozen than not eat them at all. Avoid canned. Fresh is always best, organic or locally grown is ideal. I like to keep a horde of frozen veggie mixes, some of them are quite good and help me to make a huge pot of soup in just minutes.
Ø Eat liver once a week.
Ø Eat Kichadi 3x weekly.
Ø Don’t skip any meals. Do use the Protein Shake as a meal replacement or an additional meal to the basic three meals a day. Use extra eggs.
Ø Do keep drinking broths and all the rest, but now add kefir, yogurt and raw or organic milk, or almond milk, or Vanilla Rice Dream.
Ø Enjoy muscle meats occasionally.
Ø If you need to gain weight, drink cream or eat crème fraiche frequently, but back off if your tongue gets coated.
Ø If you wish to add
Sugar back into your diet, try to use honey or rapadura or very small amounts of refined sugar, for instance, in lemonade or iced tea, not sodas. Beware of seemingly healthy fruit smoothies (Jamba Juice), overdosing on fructose is very hard on the liver and pancreas. Start out slowly – you may get ill. Definitely try to eat something you make as opposed to all the prepared foods out there, as that stuff usually has high fructose corn syrup and bad fats.
Good rebuilding foods:
Ø Nuts, nut butters & seeds, especially almonds, hazelnuts, brazil nuts, pistachios, sesame, sunflower. Most nuts should be raw and soaked overnight.
Ø Dried fruit, especially apricots, raisins, dates, prunes, figs.
Ø All dairy foods, altho chedder cheese is best used only lightly
Ø Oils and proteins, so long as they are not deep-fried or overdosed
Ø All natural sweeteners as long as they are taken in moderation, preferably coupled with oils and protein
Ø Starchy veggies
