Hi again, this is Starlight. Listen, one quick question. A friend of mine, who has 7 children (yes, I know!) has had 4 miscarriages (over the years) - now, she's pregnant again (they want a lot of kids!) and of course it's on her mind that she may have another miscarriage. Now, I don't really know what caused the other miscarriages exactly (i haven't been friends with them that long), but, can you give me any suggestions as to what may have caused those miscarriages? (other than just to many pregnancies!!!).....they live very healthy, they own a farm out in the country, eat mostly home cooked food, are active and basically happy people. I'm just wondering what advice I can maybe give her to help her not to miscarry again...she is 2 mos. pregnant right now.

If you want to have a lot of kids, try to refrain from having them closer than 2-3 years apart. It takes awhile for the mother's body to renourish and strengthen up. Vitamin A and a strong thyroid/iodine are the keys to fertility.
Miscarriages are often not due to physical causes. For whatever reason, the incoming child - or even the parent- decides that this is not the right situation for their evolution, so they separate and the earthly form is no longer needed. This is a reply to # 316,626I had 2 healthy children and then 5 miscarriages of 6 children. I've started the IVF journey to preserve whatever fertility I have left (I have already been diagnosed with diminished ovarian reserve) while we search for answers. One interesting thing we've noted is that all my cycles have low fertilization rate, but everything that fertilizes makes it to the blastocyst stage. For instance:
Cycle 1: 9 eggs retrieved, 6 were mature, 3 fertilized, 3 high quality blasts
Cycle 2: 10 eggs retrieved, 8 were mature, 4 fertilized, 4 high quality blasts
These were all freeze all cycles. I wonder if I don't just make high quality embryos even of the chromosomally abnormal ones and then they fail. Any ideas?
