hi,
Basically, people with candidasis have an imbalanced immune system. There are two "arms" of the immune system: TH1 and TH2. In a healthy immune system, both arms are balanced and active/reactive in fighting various pathogens, viruses, bacteria....
Problems arise as the TH2 arm of the immune system becomes over-active due to the presence of candida in the body...this arm becomes over-worked and the other arm becomes underused...creating an imbalance. Like the Universe as a whole, the body's system cannot function properly in an unbalanced environment.
Check out this site, be sure to look at the listing of things that help to turn the TH1 arm back on...as the article suggests, you may get rid of candida but it will return with a vengence when you end the diet......if the TH1 arm remains inactive:

I hope this helps explain things somewhat. Personally, I always used to wonder why I never "caught" any viruses etc. My system has reacted like this since I was very young...makes me wonder how long I have had candida...
Take Care......Alex
