$250 seems exceptionally high especially given your newness to orgone. If you've got the kinda cash to blow, go for it. I don't recognize any of those names you mentioned that are selling the varoius items you've seen. Have you seen any of Suze Hooten's? Her and her husbands items are not just orgone, they are orgone art that goes for considerably less than what you've quoted.
As far as practical expectations though, just be prepared that you may not see the 'fireworks' you're expecting or hoping for no matter who you buy from. I hope you do, just don't expect it.
You asked "doe they work?"; there are many times in life when it's a good idea to go by what somebody else tells you, like, don't stick your hands or other parts of your body into fire, but there are also situations for which you need to experience all by yourself to make your own obervations. It's fine to have people telling you a little about the positive aspects of orgone, but you need to decide for yourself what your own experiences are. Speaking from my own experience, I had read a lot about orgone prior to purchasing the first items, like pendant. I then found that all this reading front-loaded my expectations in a big way; nobody's fault by mine. It turns out my particular sensitivity to such subtle energy is not very well attuned. My expectations were not reasonable, ergo my subsequent disappointments, but in the iterim, I have made a lot of tangible and obvious improvements in life subsequent to first stumbling upon orgone; quite positive!
Orgone involves subtle energies. Unless you are someone with higher than average sensitivities for seeing and or feeling such, the effects you notice and or observe may or may not be obvious.
By no means am I trying to discourage you, just trying to point out that subtle means subtle and you should be prepared for this.
