Hi
Can you expand on what you did with the castor oil and how you did it? - such as how many time a day etc.
Also you say you had nail fungus for 30-40 years and tried everything - could you list the products / remedies you tried that didn't work - I'm sure thousands of people like myself - searching the internet for cures would be interested to read your story.
For years I tried amorolfine from the doctor but it never got rid of it and in that time the fungus spread to more toenails. I don't want to take Terbinafine due to the potential of liver damage so I started looking around for other remedies.
I came across a page on Dr. R Salhelians website suggesting
Epsom Salt baths so I launched into that routine whilst also using oil of oregano but the daily inconvenience of sitting with your feet in a bowl of
Epsom Salts for prolonged periods became a bind and I think some of my nails got worse, although it did seem to work on one if my little toenails.
I've now switched to a product called Excilor which uses acetic acid as its active ingredient. You paint it on twice a day and it's supposed to go right through the nail and change the ph of the environment under the nail, making it too acid for the fungus to live. I'm on my second bottle and I haven't seen any visible improvement but it's probably too early to tell. With Excilor, they suggest you don't file down the nail but that means the nails grow up again so I'm not really convinced.
Interestingly, many commercially available products contain an acid extracted from castor oil, such as Fungavir from USA. - I just ordered some last week.
