I am a newbie to this forum. It is painful when your dear one is ill. Many of us might have gone through this kind of situations when your dear one is suffering from a serious disease. My father was a very lively person. I have never seen anyone who is hardworking like him. He was a smart person. Now, he suffers from Parkinson's disease. Parkinson’s is a neurodegenerative disorder. It leads to progressive deterioration of motor function due to loss of dopamine-producing brain cells. It is a most common movement disorder. Symptoms include tremor, stiffness, slowness and impaired balance. Some other symptoms include anxiety, depression, and dementia. These diseases are usually diagnosed at 60 years old or above. People with this disease find it difficult to handle the daily activities at the early stages. Later the symptoms worsen and the individual loses balance, moves slowly and often falls. Symptoms become severe and the individual requires assistance while walking and performing daily activities. Finally, the person needs full assistance with living. My dad is going through all these difficulties and he needs full assistance. It is very difficult for an independent person like him. He wanted to do everything on his own. But his disease is not allowing him to do anything on his own. We can’t take care of him all the time.
