A few years ago I stopped wearing my prescription glasses after I learned of the negative side effects they caused. I went about 6-7 months without glasses. After that time period I developed severe pain behind the eye, in the face, head and neck. I believed it was caused by straining my eyes so much that the muscles were spasming. The pain was so bad I became suicidal and was put on duloxetine (SSRI) and gabapentin for pain and have been on them since(almost 2 years). I have since learned a few things I did not realize a couple years ago. The first is that my neck muscles are extremely tight. I learned somewhere that this could happen by straining the eyes for extended amounts of time(makes sense) Numerous nerves are in the neck that connect to the eyes and inside the head and face. I believe what is happening is that the extremely tight neck muscles are pinching a number of nerves and that i believe is what is causing the pain. I was even able to find the exact nerves that produced my exact symptoms. Now it may seem simple but ive tried everything to loosen the muscles and nothing seems to work. I learned on this forum that ssris damage the nervous system and that it prevents the muscles from actually relaxing. So i suspect that my medication may be whats preventing my muscles from relaxing even when i do strenuous massages and myotherapy. Problem is if i stop taking them the pain will come back. do any of you think that if stop taking them and do things like Myotherapy, massage, or using one of willhelm reichs accumulators that the muscles will loosen? I didnt know my neck was the issue a couple years ago before i went on the medication so i never did any of this on my neck. Im doing it now but not getting much effect. So do yall think the SSRI is the problem? Also what else can I do to relax muscles? Thanks Loren
