Hi all, my self esteem as been really low every since my lips started to act funny. At first, my lips started to peel and I just thought my lips were dry. So I just put on lip balm. I started to notice a cycle in the middle triangler part of my lips that it started to peel every 3 days. Day 1 would be looking normal. Day 2 would be cracking and peeling if any contact with any liquids or foods. Day 3: Peeling and leaves a red spot with gives my lips a nasty color combination.
This has been happening since the beginning of the year and won't heal :( I have reason to believe it's my retainers because I didn't take care of it. So starting today, I will stop wearing and start using Listerine to see if it will kill the bad germs that is causing this. I really hope somebody found a remedy.

Yea you are probably going through the early stages. Make sure you dont use any commerical lip sticks/balm try using aquaphor or some other moisturizer. Also drink plenty of water. Its kinda hard to tell if you have exfoliative chielitsi or just dry lips but it sounds like your entering the early stage of exfoliative chielits. If your lips is raw/peeling and starts crusting then you definelty have ec. So yes you do have e.c but probaly an early stage of it, it sounds like you are still able to recover from it though. If it is your retainers, it may be more related to the material they are made of, less to bacteria.
If your lips improve, you are most likely allergic to something your retainers are made of or maybe a product you use to wash it.
If I were you, I WOULD NOT USE LISTERINE!
Unless you want to develop a new allergy to something in LISTERINE! If that is your goal, go on!
