I too feel better after eating red meat. I need to eat some at least once per week, but not necessarily a large serving. I'm not referring to a fast food burger, but real meat.
I don't know if that is due to a need for iron but I would not be surprised if that is a factor. I take a multi containing roughly 100% US RDA iron. I know that is not the best way to get iron. Followup iron panels in the past 10 yrs reported iron and ferritin in the center third of the normal range although on one of the tests it was a little on the high side of normal.
I've been hearing about "ancestral diet" and diet influenced by blood type, including from my FM doc. Supposedly those with blood type A should eat more veggies but with some meat. That seems right for me.
My challenge is to cut back on the sweet junk food. I'll have to print this article on
Sugar and cancer and hang it around the house for motivation : )
