The mainstream variant has become so generic and demeaned from the original word coined in English sometime around 1400-1800s that one would do well to either distinguish which one is in context being discussed - Jew or "jew"?, Semite / ethnic or merely an honorary or convert? , Mosaic or Talmudic?, or simply geographic as in from or residing in the land of once known as Judah?, to name a few of the most commonly misused variants - or avoid using the word all together, like gay, in favor of one that still maintains some genuine meaning.
