Smiling our asthma away.
A smile can conquer asthma. Though you can smile with your mouth open it is usual to smile with closed lips so that by a reflex the sympathetic nervous system is excited and you can take a deeper breath. Now in the case of asthmatics there too much mouth breathing so that a smile occurs without any or too little lip pressure and the sympathetic nervous system is not excited like with a person in good health. As someone with a fair share of asthma experience I would recommend smile against asthma. One feels the stronger heart beat and the relaxation in the chest. "Grin and bear it" as the saying goes. It is a shame that so much asthma spray with its problems is recommended. So called pursed lips breathing involves slack lips which does not make so much sense for asthma. It is better for constipation.
