Hi! This is my first long fast that I'm doing. Previously, I have experience fasting during Ramadan, so about 18 hours, and also I did a 3 day fast in November, which is when I found out about basically being reborn during a long fast.
I'm fasting for my health. I was born with eczema, which was pretty manageable until around when I hit puberty. I got the dreaded hitler-stache, meaning a permanent flare-up above my top lip that often 'scales over,' making it painful to move my mouth fully. I also got hand eczema, which has only gotten progressively worse since I've been 13. (I'm almost 21 now, and it kinda looks like a glove.) In September I had the worst flare up in my life, and now basically my entire body is covered in eczema.
I also have asthma, allergies, that kinda thing, so I pretty much cannot breathe through my nose, and have almost no sense of smell. I also recently found out that discs in my neck are very thin, due to poor posture.
I started fasting on 6/8/16 with a juice fast, and moved to a
Water Fast on 6/10/16.
So far, I think my detox symptoms have been mild-a bit of
Body Odor , film on my mouth, that sorta thing. (I was regularly brushing with toothpaste before, but I have stopped, because I heard that could trigger your digestive system.)
My question is this: would it be bad to fast to completion in one long fast? Since my symptoms go back to when I was born, I feel that it would probably take longer than 40 days, and I'm unsupervised. I'm not to worried about the weight issue (I've been over weight for years, and I'm sure that my 'reserves' will last me that long), but I'm worried that some sort of unexpected thing could happen that could harm my health. Would it be better to break the fasts up? If I do, I'm not sure when I could do another long term one, since I'm a student and I don't want to be fasting when I'm back in school.
Also, does fasting help posture/spinal discs in any way?
I heard that skin is the last thing to clear up durning a fast. Is that true?
