RE: Achalasia problem

I developed this "rare" problem according to my doctors. I had a dilation procedure during an EGD that was unsuccessful. I am now being sent to a thoracic surgeon who presumable wants to permanently cut into and change my esophagus.

I am not sure how to proceed. I have suffered from this for approx. 5 months and have lost over 60 pounds. I have tried everything from home made ginger ale, alkaline and spring water and am on a fully liquid diet. Any insight or ideas you could give to help would greatly be appreciated.
