I work as a treatment adviser for soft tissue injuries and the absolute most common thing I hear about is how 'the doctor said I can't heal my meniscus without surgery'. The knee gets very little blood flow, which does make it the most difficult spot to heal on it's own, but this is not impossible. Most will say that 'the meniscus gets no blood flow'...but it is living tissue so has to get some. It's true it gets very little, but it does get some. I recommend focusing on treatments that increase the blood flow to the knee (ie. massage therapy, BFST, ultrasound, etc.). I personally recommend the BFST Knee Wrap and have talked to many many people who have used it with great success. It has helped many avoid surgery all together. This is a very interesting link that discusses the actual surgery and how to possibly avoid it.
