Help.... I don't understand how to figure out dosages for oral vitamin c to bowel tolerance!!

I'm trying to figure out how to know how to figure this out - I listen to Andrew Saul audio about him treating himself with high doses of vitamin c when he had pneumonia. he said he took it every 6 minutes till bowel intolerance. So my husband has pneumonia - i think - so i started him on 1/2 tsp every 15 minutes after 4 doses nothing so upped it to 1 tsp every 15 minutes. I am guess we keep going till he reaches his limit or symptoms stop like the heavy coughing?? help i don't understand how this works ;-/
