hunger throughout fast?

During my previous fast which lasted 9 days, hunger remained constant even past the 3 day mark, is this normal or a sign not to fast?
I was aiming for atleast 20 days but was deterred, atleast partially, by thoughts of starvatio, how does one distinguish true hunger from this?

This is a reply to # 2,301,059I am the opposite, I almost never feel hungry when I fast. Once or twice I gave in to food, though. Everyone craves of food, my last night's dream had boiled eggs with jalapeños and hot sauce on it.... I am a raw vegan. Lol.
But I woke up and felt no hunger. True hunger is felt in your throat and tongue. I have never reached that stage.
I am in my third day of water fast.
