I have had the Mirena for almost 2 in a half years now. Recently I have been experiencing some issues that cannot be explained. My provider just keeps telling me it's not my Mirena, but I'm not so sure. Here is what is happening. About six months ago I started a new medication that has caused me to lose weight. I went from 145 to 120. A few months ago I started having these horribly painful cramps, usually when I would have these cramps I would also spot. The spotting would stop right away though. About a month ago I also started to experience trouble having a BM. It's like my muscles are to weak to get it out!! Whenever I have a BM(whether I get anything out or not) I bleed both vaginally and rectally. More recently, I had horrible cramping one day, no bleeding though, and then the cramping seemed to stop. The next day I got to work and immediately started cramping horribly again, and this time it was accompanied by gushes of blood. This is now day 2 of bleeding, it seems like it is going to stop and then it starts right back up. I have cramping and lower back pain still and fullness down there like something is trying to come out. I also have sensations of like something poking in my lower abdomen. I called my OB, and ended up going to the ER one night. All the PA did was draw some labs and a pelvic. She said she could see the string of the mirena and suggested it was just a period. Yeah I don't think so. Now all my OB wants to do is an ultrasound and more or less thinks it's just some GI issues going on. Oh and did I forget to mention I lost a baby in 2005 and was diagnosed with Asherman's syndrome in 2009. Yeah the same OB who placed the Mirena is also the same doctor who diagnosed me as having Asherman's syndrome!!! I wanted to get my tubes tied after my 3rd son was born, but she convinced me to not do it and get the Mirena because she is a fan of the Mirena. Now what the heck do I do!!!
