All these flushes and cleanses have no actual Science to back them up, do not listen to these people. Your body naturally detoxifies itself, and the only thing it needs is water so keep hydrated.
I have no idea why my lips have peeled since puberty. I do remember manually peeling them, but I think it was just because they were already naturally super dry.
The reason that men describe themselves having it more than women is one simply thing. Lip gloss, lipstick, chapstick... A higher percentage of women use something to moisturize their lips before they even need it than men do.
Until they discover what is causing this condition (some additive that probably exists in someway in everything that peoples mucous membranes are reacting to; PROBABLY) Just keep your lips moisturized, and no one will notice. You can buy a huge stick of 100% Cocoa Butter at Walgreens for 4$ that will last you for a year and has the fewest amount of additives for the price that I have ever seen.
100% cocoa butter keeps the skin on my lips from getting hard, it also doesn't cause blisters from constant use(like every other chapstick that I've used has). If you skip a day or two your lips wont freak out, they just harden up, and peel off the next two days after you have reapplied.
This isn't a cure, no one really knows why it happens to 90% of us.
But using 100% cocoa butter to keep it from crusting up and looking disgusting works for me.....
Your body has problems detoxifying if you have a sluggish liver. I had a sluggish liver due to celiac disease, but junk food and enviromental toxins (which the world has become loaded with over time), and drugs can also cause a sluggish liver. Decades ago, people did not eat as much processed food and were not exposed to as many environmental toxins.
Stop telling people to do 5 -20 liver cleanses. It is unhealthy and crazy. Keep to yourself whatever your alternative "doctors" are telling you after you pay them thousands of dollars for years and years with no results.
The only thing you need to do to have a healthy liver is to eat unprocessed whole, natural foods, including protein, and drink lots of water. That is it!! You don't have to go on a 10 days juice cleanse of only sugar/vegetable colored water. No human on earth has ever naturally eaten that diet. Or any cleanse diet that anyone has every came up with.
If anything do the freaking paleo diet if you want to be natural. Guess what; cavemen didn't have juicers.
Hundreds of unhealthy people who somehow became healthy.
While healthy Diet is important without any doubt, there are many people who are gone too far, too far to be helped by diet alone.
Open up your mind and your horizons.
Yes, diet is very important, but there are people who used prescription medications as kids or as babies, or who's mother used prescription medications like Antibiotics and hormonal birth control or many others ... and the liver and intestines of those people may be too far gone .. too far gone to be helped by diet alone.
By the way ... Liver Flush is nothing more complicated than olive oil and fruit juice diet.
Apply as needed, eventually you will stop noticing that your lips need it constantly. I go days without applying sometimes, usually followed by one quick harden and peel. But it is never anything crazy or inflamed anymore.
Again this isn't a cure because If i stop using it to moisturize my lips will harden, crack in the middle and peel. Using the cocoa butter helps that layer of skin come off faster.
"All these flushes and cleanses have no actual Science to back them up, do not listen to these people. Your body naturally detoxifies itself, and the only thing it needs is water so keep hydrated."
And, beside water, we also need oxygen, and gravitational force, and vitamins, and minerals and a source of energy and about 50 or more essential nutrients and ... please don't get me started....
Then you write:
"I have no idea why my lips have peeled since puberty."
I think you really summarized your level of knowledge in that one sentence: "I have no idea"
The real problem is that people who have no idea think that they actually have some idea.
"You will have to experience things yourself, directly, firsthand, for a long enough period of time, with an open mind and a willingness to admit that you may not have been right all along."
The Superman
Anyway, I just read something on one page:
Understand: from now until the end of time, there will always be arguments and debates about things like detox and diet, and labels like “myth”, “scam,” “fad,” and other shit like that. No matter how much research is done and how many books are written, you will always find a counter-argument for everything about everything in life. The incessant need and urge to waste our time constantly arguing against everything that challenges our opinion, “debunking” myths and criticizing and judging others on places like forum discussions and blog and YouTube comments, rather than use our time doing something more meaningful, pleasurable, profitable or useful, is a huge sign of a toxic, deficient brain.
You can listen to these arguments and mere opinions all day long, from now until Doomsday, and you will never find a right answer that satisfies you. You cannot intellectualize your way into health and into certainty about these matters. You will have to experience things yourself, directly, firsthand, for a long enough period of time, with an open mind and a willingness to admit that you may not have been right all along. Only then will you have the clarity and certainty about what to do and the ability to really transform your life, otherwise you’ll just be a slave to what the next doctor/expert/blogger/guru has to say, and you’ll never achieve any real success. Let your experience be the judge. Everything that I am grateful for and have deeply changed my life, is constantly being called a scam by someone else, and if I was to listen to everyone who had an opinion, I would’ve been so far gone by now.
If you read everything written on that page ... you could actually get some ideas ...
You and longterm keep suggesting all these crazy and/or expensive treatments. If they work so well, why are you still on these forums all the time?
To actually none-crazy person, you apply it as needed. It isn't a prescription it is just cocoa butter, a natural moisturizer. Since I've been using it I can go days without noticing my lips are dry. If i do that Like i said they will have to peel, but my lips haven't been inflamed or disgusting or blistered ever since I started using the Cocoa butter only.
Actually, it is the collective mass of those who have seen skin problems associated with diet and environmental factors. I believe more in it due to some people who got EC from accutane use, then saw it go away after 3 days while they went on a juice diet. But it came back once they went back to unhealthy foods. It is funny when some people comment something is crazy, I find literature proving it to be effective.
I appreciate White Shark's interest in sharing the knowledge to teach others.
You aren't sharing knowledge you are spreading misinformation. There is a difference. You are addicted to talking about this issue. So you have to keep coming up with something new to say even if its total bullshit.
Well I am not having it. People need to moisturize their lips and get on with their lives.
Accutane is a good comparison because it messes with the intestines, liver, and DNA (desmosomes in particular). It also causes food allergies and other sensitivities suggesting others who did not use accutance could share some of these causes.
Literally the only thing that I have seen from you that was helpful advice was in regards to Microbiol Transplantation Therapy. With someone who test positive for an unfavorable bacterial imbalance in their gut.
Please oh great one. Supply me with all this literature and scientific evidence of detox's and cleanses changing any number of measurable toxins in the body over a permanent period of time.
Compared to a person that already consumes unprocessed, whole foods daily. Not someone going from burger kind daily, to cups of sucrose, antioxidant water (less because most antioxidants are stored in the fruit and vegetable's fiber)
I can give you the info, but the question is, would that information in any way change your mind, or would you just continue searching for counter arguments, keeping firm your stance and your belief system.
People like you are often far more interested in arguing rather than curing themselves.
Cure yourself, than share your positive experience. That is my suggestion to all of the people who prefer arguing.
Buy the way, I am already cured, since long ago.
Numbers?
Just a few from the top of my head:
What would happen if you switched from conventionally grown food to organic-only? One family of five found out after participating in an experiment run by Swedish grocery chain, Coop, and the Swedish Environmental Research Institute.
It's not news that organic farming beats conventional practices when it comes to the health of the environment. But this small pilot experiment sought to address what kind of immediate difference eating organic food can make inside the body.
During the first week of the 21-day experiment, the Palmberg family ate a conventional diet and then each member submitted a urine sample to the SERI laboratory, where analysts found a number of insecticides, fungicides and plant growth regulators. Then, the family switched to an organics only diet, including soaps and personal care items, for two weeks. During the organics phase, the researchers took daily urine samples.
The results were dramatic: The pesticide loads in the family members' bodies dropped in ways that were observable after a single day, according to the report. And by the end of the two weeks, there was very little evidence of the pesticides and other compounds in their follow up urine samples.
Previous research has established that organic food can pack more nutrients into the same piece of produce than conventionally farmed foods. A recent study from Newcastle University found that concentrations of antioxidants like polyphenolics in organic produce can be 18 to 69 percent higher than in their non-organic counterparts. But according to the Mayo Clinic, one of the main considerations in choosing organic food isn't the increased nutritional value, but rather the reduction in pesticide exposure. Organic food does indeed pose a much smaller pesticide consumption risk, but what that means for health is still up for debate.
At the beginning of the video, Anette Palmberg explains how her family has chosen to eat conventional because it's less expensive for their big family. However, she said she was reevaluating that tradeoff by the end of the experiment. "When you hear this, you think about your children," she said, according to a translation. "There were a whole number of chemicals removed from my kids' bodies, and I don't want them back."
It is important to note that the experiment was commissioned by a for-profit food company, with an eye toward storytelling rather than rigorous science: Just one family was evaluated. And yes, organic food is typically more expensive than conventional food, so Coop stands to gain from a consumer base that eschews "conventional" fare in favor of the pricier stuff. What's more, the initial pesticide levels found in this family were considered well within the range of what is considered safe for humans, the researchers noted.
That said, we don't know a great deal about long-term pesticide exposure and human health: "We know very little about the long-term effects of eating food treated with pesticides," says Jorgen Magner, a researcher at SERI, in the video above. "Especially if you consider that chemicals can be much more harmful when combined together than they are on their own."
A recent meta-analysis of studies looking at the effects of heavy metal cadmium on the human body and the contaminated produce that often carry it revealed that organic crops (as opposed to conventionally grown varieties) have almost 50 percent less of the harmful substance. James DiNicolantonio, a cardiovascular research scientist at St. Luke's Hospital, then evaluated this new data with potential health effects of this difference in mind.
"We predicted that this reduction in consumption of cadmium (with organic crops versus conventional) may lead to a 20 percent reduction in mortality (due to a lower risk of cardiovascular disease and cancer)," DiNicolantonio told The Huffington Post in an email. "We also predicted a 35 percent reduction in cardiovascular risk based on the flavonoid content. While we were unable to find evidence to calculate the health benefits of lower pesticide residue, it is likely that this will also lead to better health outcomes. This is not to say that conventional crops aren't healthy, but that organic crops are probably that much healthier."
While we are unsure of the potential role cadmium played for the family tested in the video above, this research provides a clear example of the ways in which pesticides from food can, in fact, prove harmful to human health.
Can someone please tell me what this is? I’ve had chapped peeling lips for over ten years it all started when I started taking accutane while I was a teenager. But after stopping the accutane the dry lips persisted. I’ve tried everything to fix them to no avail. I can honestly say this is impacting my life in a negative way.
