Hello CureZone readers. I thought I'd share my experience as I know reading from others has been very helpful for me.
I am on day 14 of a 21 day water fast. Prior to this, I was a HORRIBLE eater. I didn't do this to lose weight, I've been the exact same weight since high school and I'm skinny. I assumed since I never really gained much weight that I could eat whatever I wanted. The problem is, at a very healthy 120lbs, I felt like total crap. I've spent 3 decades feeling like crap. Now, that's self inflicted as I lived on RedBull, coke, coffee, beef jerky, Doritos and every crap packaged snack you could think of. I had a stomach ache every day of my life, night sweats, headaches, unending tiredness and a host of other things that I assumed were just going to be part of my life. To sum it up, I felt like crap!
I ended up turning to
Water Fasting when my glucose level showed I'm pre-diabetic (again, only 120lbs) and I learned I had liver flukes. My endless cycles of energy drinks and sleep aids was ridiculous. Enough was enough.
I quickly realized how addicted to caffeine and
Sugar I was when my abstaining pre-fast led to a 102 fever, shakes and throwing up. I might as well have been coming off illegal drugs.
Days 1-3 were not fun, day 3 being the hardest of course. Day 5-7 I had EXTREME back pain and nausea, so bad that I thought I should go to the hospital at one point. I ended up finding some advice on this forum which I tried out. I did an hour long soak in epson salt, heating pads on/off all day. That helped a little, but really only when I was in the water or in a certain position with the heating pad. Then I saw the suggestion for castor oil packs (never heard of that before). Well, I did all 3 of those and on the 3rd day of this horrid pain, I finally got up and puked 6 times. Out came bile, mucus and who knows what, but I literally went from a pain level of 9/10 to like a 2. It was like instant relief.
Those issue are long gone and I'm coming up on day 15. Now I am super tired, but for the most part settled into things and have mastery over my will (with God's help). I've broken my addictions to crap food and the only thing I'm craving are tomatoes and sweet peas (not the me of the past I assure you).
I had a scary thing happen with my labwork yesterday where the doc called and told me to start eating immediately. But, I went back and read Dr. Furhman's book and devised another strategy.
Current labs:
CO2: 19
Sodium: 134
Potassium: 3.3
Chloride: 91
The potassium is what lead to the biggest concern. In Dr. F's book, it says a fast should be broken for anyone who reaches a potassium level of 3. 2 UNLESS their doctor is willing to do daily blood work. In that case, you could continue until your potassium reached 3.0. At that point, the fast must be broken.
So, what I did was add trace mineral drops to my water. I found a lab that I can go to every morning to monitor. I'm at 3.3 now so I have wiggle room till 3.0. I've decided that the minute I see 3.1, I'm just going to break it. I do want to live that risky! If I have to break before the 21 day is up, I'll finish out on juice.
It's interesting that I am craving tomatoes so bad, I learned they are filled with potassium!
Well, I'll post my stats and I'm happy to answer any questions or lend support where I can. Here's to taking your health serious!
