Hi,
I am having the beginning of a UTI.
I am getting confused between:
Barberry (a plant which contains berberine, berbamine, oxyacantha and tanines.)
Berberis ~ an evergreen shrub. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Berberis
which contains berberine. and then there is
Berberine as a stand alone element. I don't understand if I can only get berberine from Barberry, or whether I can get it in other plants, like berries for example.
I am also reading about D Mannose and it seems it is in cranberries and blueberries but I would like to know if it is in other foods also.
haha, I hope that made some kind of sense. I can't even find where I just read about berberine in the first place as helping UTI's. I may be totally off on that. >< Any ideas kind people?
Ps, I also just started drinking dandelion tea a few minutes ago as I read that can help too. Also I'm taking epsom salt baths every 4 hours or so. Cheers
From wiki.
"Berberine is a quaternary ammonium salt from the protoberberine group of isoquinoline alkaloids. It is found in such plants as Berberis Oregon grape, barberry, tree turmeric], goldenseal, yellowroot, Phellodendron amurense , prickly poppy, and Californian poppy. Berberine is usually found in the roots, rhizomes, stems, and bark.
Berberine was used in China as a broad-spectrum anti-microbial medicine by Shennong around 3000 BC."
