I am so glad I have found this site! Like so many of you, I too had a wonderful time with my first Mirena. I inserted it between our 2nd and 3rd kids (we have 4 and now that we're totally outnumbered we are done with babies!). So in June 2014 after little Sir was born, I had another Mirena inserted. Because it. Just. Was. So. Awesome. Within 2 months I started with dilibitating back pain. US of pelvis/uterus was normal. MRI showed advanced severe OA of both my SI joints. After the dr wanted to put me on lifelong pain meds that I would get addicted to (what's up with Drs???), I tried the steroid injections in the joints but the relief only lasted 2 weeks. One can only get the injections twice a year because of adverse effects. The other thing I've noticed is that my boobs have become minuscule. I was always a size B and sometimes had to take a C depending on the make of bra/clothing. Now I can't even fill a size A. It is depressing to see my body change so rapidly. Like many others I too struggle with the brain fog and can't-keep-my-eyes-open-to-drive exhaustion. Plus ZERO sex drive. With everything happening to my body THAT is hurting me the most. So, I decided to reach out and find out if there are any other women who struggle with OA and breast atrophy while on Mirena? I feel pretty alone in that department!
I am thinking of getting this thing out of me. I wonder what it is that our bodies reject Mirena the second time around???
